What if it all falls apart?

What if it all falls apart financially for me?

It’s a question we’ve all asked ourselves – some of us more than others. However, this question only helps when paired with its opposite…

But what if it doesn’t?

It’s easy to let the possibility of a negative financial change in your future prevent you from enjoying the present.

If you find yourself becoming too anxious about the possibility of impending financial doom, try this instead:

  1. Put down the phone (after you finish reading or listening to this 🙂)

  2. Go outside.

  3. Take a walk.

Notice what starts to happen when you log off, slow down, and give yourself some space to think about your finances clearly?

You begin to regain perspective. You are also able to remind yourself that worrying itself won’t change anything. Then you can ask the only question that will make a real difference…

What financial actions can I take right now that will help me create more flexibility and optionality in the future?

For example, you could start by reviewing your current spending – Tiller is the tool I personally use and recommend. You want to make sure you’re only spending aggressively on the things that matter to you and work on eliminating any spending that’s just fluff. Then you can put any extra funds towards a combination of eliminating debt, boosting your cash cushion, and bumping up your long-term investment amounts.

Now rather than sitting around waiting for your financial world to fall apart around you, you’re instead taking financial action on something that’s actually within your control. And once you build these financial actions into habits, you’ll be well on your way to finding the financial flexibility and optionality that you need to live comfortably and confidently no matter what life throws your way.
