Whether it’s personal or professional, financial or emotional, there’s no avoiding stress and anxiety in your life. The best you can do is figure out how to navigate it when it shows up.
One option I’ve found for navigating life’s many stressors is having your own list of reliable release valves at the ready.
So what’s a reliable release valve?
It’s an easily accessible action or activity that helps you release your stress and anxiety. For example, playing tennis has always been a reliable release valve for me. It’s a good workout with friends that helps me clear my head when I’m feeling anxious. Other examples for me include taking walks with Michelle, meditation, reading, and spending time in the sauna.
What comes to mind in your life that serves as a release value for you?
If you haven’t already, create a note in your cell phone with a list of your own reliable release valves. This way you don’t have to try to remember them when you’re feeling anxious and stressed.
And when financial stress & anxiety shows up, remember that your own financial framework can act as your release valve. We can quickly run the numbers and see whether you’re all set as-is or identify any adjustments needed to get you back on track.
Stress & anxiety will continue to be a regular part of your life, but having reliable release valves in place is the key to navigating through it all with more comfort and confidence.
